Lesson 17. "Spanglish"

My 6 aged son is a lifely and clever boy. He's a great talker as well (who shall he looks like?)....so I guess he's not very happy because he can not speak English as quickly and witty as he does it in Spanish. However he's learning faster than his parents and it's fantastic to see it.
I couldn't avoid laughing when Miss Moon showed us one of his first writing. He tried to write what he heard so, at last, you can read a mixed "spanglish" unclear wording (isn´t it lovely?).
Every afternoon we had family session of reading on loud voice. He started to read at stage 3 and in a few weeks he's  already become to stage 7 of his Owford reading books. He often corrects us, that is quite embarrasing, tough at the same time we're very proud of him.
Everybody think that living here, it's easy to learn English, but this is not an absolute truth, I mean the only fact of living in England is not enough to acquire a good command of English. You have to set on learning it and you must work hardly. And do not be shy to speak it or write it, indeed. In fact, this blog is the proof that I'm really sure of it.
I apologize to you for my grammar mistakes. By the end of this course, my son will be able to speak as an English, and maybe his mother as an Spanish who can speak English.
                                                                                 

 

On Tuesday my class go (went) to de Space Centre...first we go (went to the bus, next we go (went) to the space centre, after we go (went) to eat bananas, finally we go (went) to see the moon and the sun and (it) is a good day.

Mi hijo de 6 años es un niño vital y listo. También es un gran charlatán (a quién habrá salido?)...así que creo que no está muy contento porque no puede hablar en inglés con tanta rapidez e ingenio como lo hace en español. Sin embargo está aprendiendo más rápido que sus padres y es fantástico verlo. 

No pude evitar reirme cuando Miss Moon nos enseñó una de sus primeras redacciones. Él trató de escribir lo que oía, de modo que al final puedes leer una mezcla de "spanglish" (no es encantador?). 

Cada tarde tenemos sesiones familiares de lectura en voz alta. Empezó a leer sus libros de lectura de Oxford en el nivel 3 y ya ha llegado al 7. A menudo nos corrige, lo cual es bastante embarazoso, aunque a la vez nos sentimos muyy orgullosos de él.

Todo el mundo piensa que viviendo aquí, es fácil aprender inglés, pero eso no es una verda absoluta, quiero decir el sólo hecho de vivir en Inglaterra no es suficiente para dominar el inglés. Tienes que empeñarte en aprenderlo y hay que trabajar muy duro. Y, es más, no tener corte al hablarlo o escribirlo. De hecho est blog es prueba de que estoy convencida de ello.

Os pido disculpas por mis errores gramaticales. Para final de curso mi hijo hablará como un inglés. Y quizá su madre como una española que sabe inglés.
